Asheville, NC – Epsilon, Inc. partnered with volunteer-based organization Meet the Geeks on Tuesday, June 4 to hold the 2013 WNC Business and Information Technology Summit (BITS) at the Hilton in Biltmore Park.  The event gave attendees an opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest IT technologies and how evolving technology needs affect the way small-to-medium-sized businesses consider the future.

The event included multiple presentations including a keynote address titled, “Demystifying the Cloud” delivered by Yung Chou, Technology Evangelist at Microsoft’s US Developer and Platform Evangelism team.  Mr. Chou spoke in detail at how cloud computing is rapidly transforming the IT industry from its traditional deployment model to a service-centric and user-driven approach for today’s business environment.

Additional presentations:

“Managed Services: Rethinking the Rules of Business IT” was delivered by Matt Fraser, Sales Manager at Epsilon Inc.  Mr. Fraser conveyed the value of IT providers adopting a “more proactive attitude to helping their customers” through a managed service as an alternative to traditional break/fix solutions.  

“Behavior Matters: Using Social Analytics to Drive Business” was delivered by Ian Bryan, Founder of Sensible City and Communications Strategist at Mycelium.  Mr. Bryan spoke on “real customers and real business opportunities” unseen in most social media tools.

“Backup and Disaster Recovery” was delivered by Ed Tatsch, President and Owner of ETS Networks, Inc.  Mr. Tasch educated attendees on “how to formulate a plan for getting your business back in business when disaster strikes.”

 “What Technology Skills Do You Need?” was delivered by Cindy Ireland, VP of IT at DoctorDirectory.  Ms. Ireland discussed the value of understanding  technology needs and finding “qualified resources to fill those requirements.”

“Making IT Work for Your Business” was delivered by Audrey Reynolds, Business Operations Analyst at NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association.  Ms. Reynolds addressed key concepts “to get the most out of your technology software and services.”

“Are Your Computers & Network Safe?” was delivered by Rich Winslow, Founder of Automated Results.  Mr. Winslow guided attendees through IT security risks and practical ways to secure critical data.
