WEAVERVILLE, NC – The United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County hosted its Live United Celebration on March 17th to celebrate the many volunteers, partnerships, and impacts made during 2016. This event honored many local businesses and community members that have gone above and beyond to support United Way and their critical mission.
Among United Way’s many initiatives, their Middle School Success program has been particularly impactful in Buncombe County Schools and Asheville City Schools. Education research shows that middle school is the “last best time” to ensure that kids are solidly prepared to successfully navigate high school and make it to graduation. The Middle School Success program works collaboratively in three pilot middle schools to identify when students are struggling with health, education, and financial stability. Epsilon is pleased to partner with United Way to participate in efforts at one of the pilot middle schools, Erwin Middle. Since 2015, Epsilon and its employees have donated over 45 hours of service and $2,600 in school supplies for Erwin students and staff.
Epsilon was honored to receive the Community Support Award during the Live United Celebration for our work with Erwin Middle and our successful mid-year school supply drive.
Eric Oelschlaeger, President of Epsilon, states “I’m very proud of the Epsilon employees who identified this opportunity to make a difference and ran with it. It shows the impact that a few concerned individuals can make to the broader community and I’m honored that it gave the rest of us at Epsilon a chance to contribute. Thanks to the folks at United Way who facilitated this effort and gave us the opportunity.”
Epsilon will continue to support Erwin Middle and United Way’s Middle School Success program. To learn more about this program, please click here.
